A side project I have been working on for some time is now live at OffHollywoodMovie.com. It was a crazy task of creating an audition submission system for an upcoming Movie by integrating Kickapps functionality. The site allows registered members the ability to audition for parts in the movie as well as write the mock porno Theme song.
A general synopsis of the movie:
A lowly playwright-director from the prairie is called to Hollywood by the ghost of Orson Welles to save Hollywood from its doldrums of sequels, prequels, remakes and spin-offs.
Hurdles and Obstacles
There were several obstacles to overcome, but mainly it was the budget and way kickapps allows integration. There are not many tutorials or tips for using ColdFusion with Kickapps, I might have been the first to do it really. Right after I learned about Kickapps at the Adobe MAX conference in 2007, I started working on integrating it into my personal sites. But when working on the OffHollywoodMovie (OHM for short) site, I realized I would have to make use of iframes and lots of JQuery to make it work the way I needed it to.
